  1. gonzo: I don't think you missed anything. you spelled it all out rather nice!
  2. If you go to doctors when you have medical problems and lawyers for legal problems why not do the same for car related problems. What's the difference, they both are professionals! Hard to understand why folks think auto repair should be something you don't have to pay for. Like Gonzo said, maybe it used to be that way but not today!
  3. Gonzo: Santa should be doing better now that the economy is so wonderful, as we are being told! Ho Ho Ho!
  4. gonzo: I knew you would not forget to post this one!<<GOOD>>
  5. Gonzo:yep, that's a new version, well done!
  6. gonzo: good story, what ever happened to common sense? The story reminds me of the expression "Thinking outside the box" and how many times I have to do that from day to day, just to either get by or save money!
  7. nice to know he was a good customer for you as well!
  8. Gonzo: yes, you have to ask yourself is the grass really greener on the other side, before you make your move!
  9. should of got his name, just to see if we recognize it!
  10. I guess they ran out of ideas "technically speaking" so you have older cars in the future! Don't know but some day will find out!
  11. There great stories of round about way of avoiding the cost of automotive repair!
  12. So what would have happened to the truck if the owner never showed up? You junk it for him?
  13. yes I have heard the story just today as Pat Goss explained on his radio show today why a free diagnostic code reading, usually turns out costing more then if you just would have paid for the diagnostic in the first place. They read the code sell you a part and clear the code and your on your way as a happy customer, but not for long. Then later on your back with the --money light-- on "check engine light" on again, ready to spend more money!
  14. wow, I like to know what year make and model was this car? I would not mind driving something that lasts and lasts, especially if it was not cared for that well!
  15. If you can't please them, then at least please yourself!
  16. so that's where the experts go to get the answers if they don't know. Now we know!
  17. That's what it boils down to, finding a mechanic you can trust-why? So you will not mind taking your car to them for repairs or maintenance.
  18. gonzo: so that's why your stories are so good! They are originals!
  19. It's just a vicious cycle, and they just don't seem to get it right, do they?
  20. gonzo: yes another story worth repeating. glad you did!
  21. gonzo: I think you stumbled on the answer, "he's good and cheap". that's what there thinking, and hoping! good story!
  22. yep, you have to be able to talk to the customers, and not just be an order taker in this business!
  23. Gonzo: Very true. A diagnostic in the doctors office or at your local mechanic should be any different when it comes to paying for it. But they still try to find reasons why it shouldn't be and I think you cleared it up a bit!
  24. Gonzo: Do you think you would of still been an auto mechanic if when you started there was all this electronic stuff you had to know to repair cars? Maybe not! Maybe you would because you would have been the guy that messes with computers at home and you had some knowledge of electronics!
  25. Gonzo: Used to be more mechanical modifications, as now with electronics, especially software it is more tempting to go in and make changes without getting into will it fit, meaning you don't need a machine shop to modify anymore! If you can make it look easy to do, there out and willing to try.
