  1. Yes I am curious how the rising min wage will play out not only in our industry but everything else
  2. I'm sorry to hear that as well. I checked out your website and FB page, hard to believe you're not making $10k gross/month. Looks like you got a lot to offer especially with a dyno and quite a following on your FB page. What's your car count like on a daily/weekly basis? I see that your location is outside of columbus so maybe the population isn't there. I'm located in one of the fastest growing areas in the US and i think that has a lot to do with my growth.
  3. I dont need to read the books to know, I have personal experience. My B .S. degree is bs
  4. yea but Im usually the last to fall asleep
  5. Article is spot on. Frustrating for sure and DIYers are the cheaper ones that complain about the price too. In my experience anyway
  6. You guys want to all get a suite and stay together? lol
  7. 2 years ago, I was in my garage. Now I recently opened a second location. This is my story. http://carmedixnc.com/history/ How did you guys go about opening a shop? Similar story?
  8. Can you clarify what type of things you would do or offer?
  9. Yea it came with everything. Already towed 2 cars, both mine tho lol
  10. Well guys, I just couldnt help it. Once I got my mind on something, it can't be stopped.... I bought a rollback and I am freakin excited
  11. Do you guys do free installation? For wiper blades I feel like we have to bc auto part stores does it. It's a really small GP for me
  12. I really want to go but I got a new born and wife wouldn't be too happy. It'd be good to meet you guys in person
  13. I saw in a different post, someone had a tow truck. I have 2 shops now and I get calls for tows once or twice a week. Should I get a tow truck? What type should I get? I've seen a few rollbacks on craigslist for about $8000. Older but all I want to spend right now, especially this being my first one. I see a one that isn't a rollback but a wheel lift type. Would I regret it? seems like rollbacks are much safter and versatile. I know little to nothing about towing so any advice would be helpful
  14. Tow trucks! For some reason I never thought about that. How is it? Do you have a tow truck driver full time? ROI?
  15. Today I visited 6 different automotive shops. NTB, Firestone, Meineke, Discount Tire, Jiffy Lube, and Mr Tire- they were all within 2 miles of my new shop. It's amazing what they are willing to share with you. Meineke was a private owner since its a franchise. Everything else was corporate. There's a difference when the owner is running the shop and hired help is. Doesn't matter how much you pay, owner is friendlier. Discount Tire will be here for a while. Excellent people and policies. Did you guys know that they patch tires for free??? Even if you didn't buy tires from them! Same thing with rotations! I asked them why????? and HOW??? they just laughed.
  16. Hey guys, if you subscribe to Ratchet and Wrench, you know they hold a conference every year. Anyone going? Or anyone been? Worth it? It'll set me back $1500 not to mention cost of missing work.
  17. $129 is really expensive for the lease and that is probably where they are making up the difference. I pay $29 each a month for my machines and they are new.
  18. I am going to read all of these. Right now i am reading "Sam Walton" auto biography of the man who created the LARGEST retail in the world- Wal-Mart. It's a great read
  19. ok true, I have a bunch of can jobs which are not 100$ EFL

  21. This post was prompted bc of another post- but wondering on the most influential and helpful books out there that you have read and wanted to share. For me, it was How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie Great book I think every entrepreneur should read. I want to try and read a book a week

  23. Thanks for the link, just bought it
  24. where can i get this mitch s seminars and 20 groups? I have 1 guy I talk to often and consider a mentor, I worked for him as an advisor years ago and he's still in business. All his methods are unconventional but somehow works. I've managed a national chain for a year before (NTB) but other than that little to no experience
