  1. I recycle mine and get money for it. Why would you throw the weights out when someone will pay you for them
  2. I forgot about the rust thing. Living in the South East we don't have a rust problem. My 25 yr old Ranger has almost no rust on it at all except for surface rust where the paint has come off. I love the south
  3. I am as well as making sure my website is current.
  4. I have not had posted hours but since I have moved to my new location I am posting hours so I can get away from working 70-80 hours a week.
  5. I have a lot of customers with high mileage vehicles and most of them are paying to keep them running. It doesn't bother me to tell people to drive high mileage vehicles since every one I own is over 200k. People around here are spending the money to keep their cars running.
  6. Ok. That sucks. I can agree with your sentiments. I don't think you have to worry about your guys getting more money to go and do that. Ha.
  7. I am not talking about something that I put on every car. I am referring to a decal the customer can add themselves. I am with you about the dealership decals that I have removed from my vehicles in the past. The vinyl decals around here are very popular and I am thinking along the lines of a "discount" if you have the decal on your vehicle. It will be completely voluntary.
  8. We are considering making vinyl decals that customers can place on the back of their vehicles for advertisement of our business. We plan to offer a discount for vehicles that have this decal on the car as an incentive to place it there. I am going to hand them out on our grand opening and offer them for sale after that. I need your input. We have a few ideas on the decal and want to know what you guys think. Please let me know which statement you would use and why. 1) "I drive the business at..(logo)" 2) "I drive the business for ..(logo)" 3) "(logo) I drive their business"
  9. We all have seen this in some form or fashion. Reading the codes--Free Diagnosing the problem--$50 Fixing it right the first time---priceless.
  10. Wow. That's for that great idea Max. I will have to do that here. I also am going after the City work here as soon as I have my newer and bigger shop open especially since the City can't afford to pay their own tech to do their work.
  11. Another wonderful example of the government sticking its head in where it doesn't belong. Hey, lets outlaw a needed product with no good known replacement on the market. What a bunch of idiots.
  12. Thanks The website is actually hosted by http://www.turnkeyautoshop.com/ and Kirk does a great job. I am planning to add more information over the next few weeks about me and more on the shop as soon as I have more inside the building. We are looking forward to the upgrade and more space and the opportunity to be able to push the business much more.
  13. After almost a month of electrical problems and inspections issues we are scheduled for the final inspections on Monday. If all goes well, next week will be our big move with the Grand Opening scheduled for Dec 4. This is going to be a long week but one I have been looking forward to for years.
  14. Sounds like the crap that Advance would sell....Hey, I would go to the grand opening if for nothing else than the free food At least you will be able to get something from them for what they will do to you.
  15. One of the easy way to find out who is actually good is to find out which companies the dealerships use. The headache of the paperwork for me is one of the reasons that keeps me from wanting to do glass replacement in general. I have a great local company that does them for me.
  16. Great article. Thanks for that one.
  17. That's good to know but what a crap design. GM only designed that with just enough to handle the stock wheels? So much for heavy duty. LOL
  18. My wife wants to know what stop winging is on the remote. She said this obviously was made by a guy. LOL
  19. Did you read this post? This was discussed for a while. I am sure you can get a lot of information on it from this discussion. http://www.autoshopowner.com/topic/4379-should-there-be-a-standard-diagnostic-charge/page__p__5662__hl__%2Bdiagnostic+%2Bcharge__fromsearch__1#entry5662
  20. That is a very cool place to be. I had a first time customer a few months ago that told me she was coming to me to have work done after being referred to me by two different pastors. That was a great thing to hear.
  21. Thanks for that info Joe. I am in the same position myself so anymore info like this you can hand out the better
  22. Great information. What kind of tester do you use for the flashing?
  23. Congrats. I wish I could stop by tomorrow and see your shop I hope to be in your shoes 30 yrs from now.
  24. I had one similar to this one a few weeks ago. My father-in-law's 02 GMC 1500 had hard steering turning right only and the left turn was normal. I ended up replacing the steering gear box and the problem was solved. Not a power steering pump issue on the one I had.
  25. Joe, I am not sure if Carquest marks up the parts from WorldPac or not but I set myself up an account with Worldpac. It doesn't cost me anything and everything that I order before 6:30pm comes to me overnight by 10:30 the next morning and if I spend more than $75 the shipping is free. You may want to look into that. Worldpac is a direct link in my Mitchell1 and I can pull down and order the parts right through my Mitchell1.
