  1. Actually, I grew up a fan of the only true New York team (Buffalo Bills) since I grew up in upstate NY. But since living in TN for the last 15 yrs I became a Titan's fan.
  2. GO STEELERS I am a Titan's fan and since they can't get a QB that will win games for them, I will cheer for the next option for me.
  3. This one: or:
  4. This man can drive. Have you seen the one he did with the Subaru?
  5. another snow storm. Glad my shop is already full of work for today.

  6. I have the Auto Enginuity and really haven't been happy with it. It doesn't have the testing functions that I think it should. When you use that scanner for Ford it has all the output tests but Chevy it doesn't offer it? Either that or I don't know how to use it well enough and the info it came with is pretty much useless.
  7. Which you can't purchase the building because they aren't loaning the money to buy with in the first place. All because a few people ruined the system for the rest of us.
  8. I can vouch for this information. All I was trying to loan was 20k in the last six months with near perfect credit but it was pulling teeth to get it and I still wasn't able to get the full amount.
  9. I love the wibiya bar at the bottom. That is very cool. I wonder if I can get that on my page.
  10. Forget the Small Business Administration. Try SCORE. http://www.score.org/index.html They were more helpful and their classes were very well worth the price if you want help getting information in your area.
  11. Great news. I just wish there was more of those 500 that were involved.
  12. So who can post the link to the actual law so we have the "correct" (today) ruling on where they should go?
  13. I am working on mine this week.
  14. I know that I am up about 20% this year over last but I also moved in the last 3 months of the year as well as hired help so this year will be the interesting one for me. I am also only 2-1/2 yrs into my shop.
  15. I always place the new ones on the front because I wouldn't want to hear about a customer blowing out a worn front tire and loosing control and wrecking the vehicle. Its easier to control a flat rear tire than a flat front tire in my experience.
  16. I have been eying the Midtronics products as Midtronics actually makes the testers for Honda. I have been looking very closely at these two in particular because like you I want a hand held tester with a printer. The 600 series would do everything that I "need" but the 800 series is cooler http://www.midtronics.com/home/products/transportation/batterytesters/MDX-600%20Series.aspx http://www.midtronics.com/home/products/transportation/batterytesters/EXP-800.aspx
  17. I charge 8.01% on total ticket with a cap of $39.97. I have been doing this for over 1-1/2 and never had anyone complain about it. I have a list plainly displayed on the wall of what it covers. Anything that you would use more than once (brake cleaner, grease, ect) is what is covered under the shop supplies. Anything that is a one time thing (clamps, bulbs, ect) I charge on the ticket itself as a part.
  18. I don't do anything with tires at this time so it doesn't matter to me. When I get the machine to do tires, I will do the service to the TPMS system otherwise you may be causing more problems. We don't have the corrosion problems around here but its just good practice.
  19. Yes, if money was no object. Very cool.
  20. I have an older customer that traded is mint 02 Jag xj8 for this 01 Aston Martin DB7 with 15k. What a beauty and I drooled all over the v12 and man does it sound good. Sorry for the blurry pictures. Taken with my phone. The customer is going to supply me with a nice picture to hang on the wall. He is a retired Marine photographer and can take some awesome pictures.
  21. Which trade associations do you guys find most helpful? I am thinking of groups like AAA, ASA, Car Counsel. I am considering getting involved with a few more of these now that I am at my bigger location. Any input?
  22. Working for Honda for 12 yrs gave me both sides of this. Honda only does a drain and refill as there is no serviceable filter on anything that Honda makes. The only filter is inside the transmission and is changed when you do a rebuild If you use anything but Honda fluid the shifting characteristics of the transmission are changed. Trust me I know. I personally change the trans fluid on my vehicles every year (about every 20k on the van). I either use Honda ATF or Amsoil ATF. Honda also told us that the cleaners used in most flush systems will effect the clutches and cause more problems than just changing the fluid in the recommended intervals. If you are using a fluid exchange, you would have to use one with only Honda fluid and it wouldn't be worth it cost wise. If the customer does the drain and refill on the recommended intervals there isn't any need to do a transmission fluid flush.
  23. is enjoying some of the first snow of the season. Glad it doesn't last around here.

  24. Their website doesn't work? You can't click on anything. Would make me suspicious.
  25. Welcome to the site from one new shop owner to another. Don't be a stranger as you will find a lot of answers from the shop owners that have been around a while.
