  1. You know what I mean Verne!
  2. That is a hilaious story about the air filter Gonzo.
  3. It costs us something like $120 per month. They will give you a free trial if you ask them.
  4. Joe I do not know how much market exists. There is a place here I could give you a phone number for. They use to be a Ziebart franchise but dropped the franchise a few years ago.
  5. We have a couple here like that as well but fortunately most of the shops are pretty good people.
  6. Amanda, I welcome you to the forum. However, I will say that I will be curious to know whether your opinion that other shops are screwing over people will be the same opinion after you have been in business a few years. I think a few shops may do that but I do not think the majority do at least where I am at.
  7. I don't think you are marking up enough.
  8. Joe, I am glad you found us. The philosophy here is trying to help each other.
  9. How can they survive on $48.00 and hour?
  10. They say a tech shortage is looming but I say it is already here.
  11. Joe, I have no information on that lift but I am curious as to what it sells for?
  12. How much does a set up like that set you back?
  13. Amen! So be it!
  14. Was the $5.00 hat unlicensed merchandise. Say a chinese knock off? Just asking?
  15. Keep it or they may not realize you used one and could blame old dirt on you.
  16. We run a fairly small crew for the volume of our shop. No more than 7 employees not counting yours truly. We have allowed your former policy. However, I could see that if I have 10-12 guys it could get to be too much.
  17. We also have a used Hunter that has been upgraded. One of the most important things to consider is service. With Hunter I can get my unit served and repair as needed rather quickly. It is rare that we will ever be done more than a few hours.
  18. The same to you Joe and all of our members. We all know what Gonzo will be doing!
  19. I hope it gets published. I think anyone who has been in this business any amount of time will enjoy it.
  20. Don't you love working on a vehicle owned by someone who knows more than you. My brother-in-law is like that. He had what I suspect to have been an AC relay out on his wife's Toyota Corolla but couldn't figure it out. He direct wired the compressor and then blames his wife for forgetting to turn off the toggle switch he installed on the dash. He eventually he got rid of the car because he was too cheap to take the car to someone who could do a proper repair. I only got involved after the fact since he lives down near Knoxville, TN. The original problem would have been an affordable repair just like this guy you are writing about. Your guy bought a new AC compressor that more than likely he never needed.
  21. You can't fix stupid, cheap, or dishonest.c
  22. I am an owner who never spun wrenches so I will leave the response on this to others. All I want to say is don't you just "LOVE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS"?! We all have them from time to time.
  23. It is both a subscription to their data base of known fixes. Labor time from Motor and Chiltons is also included in it. Motor labor time is the same as Alldata but Chilton differs. If in doubt about a specific repair you can compare the labor in both resources. Identifix is a great resources for learning pattern failures and repair. It can save a lot of time in figuring out what problem a vehicle may have. We used identifix primamrily for access to the data base. Very rarely do we call the hotline. The hotline is available if you are stuck and need help. You pay a sliding per call charge for the first three calls. I am not sure what it currently is but it used to be something like $28-$14-$7. This is in additional to the monthly subscription. There is no charge for any call beyond the third call on the same vehicle. However, you call call and utilize the hotline without the month subscription. Identifix has also bought and now owns IATN.
  24. Talking about oil changes. What do you guys charge for an oil change with a standard filter and 5 quarts of oil? We are at $29.95 plus $2.00 environmental. We are going to $31.95 plus $2.00.
