  1. Two weeks ago the lower balljoint fell out of a van as we were pulling it onto the alignment rack in our shop. There was no indication it was loose and it wasn't in for balljoints. Would you believe it came in for struts which we had installed and we're moving it to the alignment rack. Hopefully we would have found it when we shook it down for the alignment. I am just glad it was in our shop at 5 mph not at 50 mph on a test drive.
  2. I had a similar experience with Mitchell. I will never ever do business with them again.
  3. Reading the E-myth is a step towards freedom.
  4. Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to learn and to share.
  5. My problem with Bolt on Technology is that I had a problem with Mitchell and they did nothing to remedy the situation. My plans are to never, ever spend another dime with Mitchell.
  6. Sounds like an appropriate response. You could write him up with a warning that a future repeat would result in termination. I have attached a form for write ups that some may find useful. The use of these are great ammunition in unemployment hearings. Employee Warning Notice.doc
  7. When you hit like is the only time the thumbs down button appears. That is so you can remove the like if your change your mind or you hit it by accident. We are not able to unlike (thumbs down) anyones post unless we have first liked it. The thumbs down just lets us remove a previous like.
  8. I feel for you. Typical NY legal situation. NY is a tough state to do any business in.
  9. My yellow pages budget has went from about $12K per year down to less than $1K and I think that is a waste of money.
  10. The heater core was leaking and now you have the system sealed. The other problem would not be indicated until you fixed that issue. We tell people on older cars with overheating or cooling system leak issues we know this is a problem but we do not know if there are other issues until we first fix this. End of story. Because you fix one item does not make you responsible for everything on a car.

  12. Sell it away from the shop is the best thing you can do.
  13. I had one guy who was a slob. I would get on him and it would last for a day. He saved ever loose bolt, washer, boxes, buckets. Etc. a regular pack rat. He finally found another job and was I glad.
  14. It is off I-575 and Bells Ferry Road. My wife and I hope to be there and would love to meet you. Look for a fat whited headed guy with a slim good looking brunett.
  15. What hits me is are your guys not very good techs or do they not like you? They should not have that much trouble fixing things. Admittedly used cars sometimes give you some surprises but not that many.
  16. phynny, knowing Joe he ain't offended. However, one thing I have learned is that humor doesn't always come across in print.
  17. This is for anyone living in the Kennesaw, Georgia area. My daughter and her husband are launching Abiding Church on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. The meeting place is the Chalker Elementary School at 2500 N. Booth Road in Kennesaw. For over a year they have been working and raising money to make this happen. What they have done has been incredible starting from nothing. I think the opening will be outstanding. In excess of 300 people are anticipated. They have recruited a launch team of over 50 people. The music will be superb. My daughter will lead. I am heading to them his morning will an SUV loaded with a drum set. w, GA 3044
  18. You were smart to quit when you did. Now you have a chance to build a business the way you want it to be. Too many guys who know how to fix cars wind up burnt out because they don't know how to structure the business, set pricing, say no, etc. I got a direct mail postcard from a guy yesterday offering a $34.95 full synthetic oil change and $15.95 regular oil change, ac special including freon for $44.95 and other low ball prices. Too many do that and work 70 hours a week and make no money. People who are looking for bargains tend to be the customers you don't want.
  19. I think an 18 year old service writer would have a difficult time gaining trust with some customers. Just my two cents.
  20. To me this picture is Joe, Gonzo, and all the rest. I am proud to be in this pride.
  21. Sounds like this guy got the kind of job he deserved. These two deserve each other. Ain't no customer going to come in my shop and work on their car.
  22. Yes it does but the OP has been with us over two years. I would like to say that anyone who can retire at 35 doesn't need advice from me.
