  1. There are cheaters. We priced a regular customer hub bearings (Moog) on his pickup. He said the guy back home could do it a whole lot cheaper and was using Moog bearings. We told him to be sure because we couldn't buy the moog as cheap as this guy was selling them. Speed forward 8 months later. He came in for an aligment or something and we find that both of his new "moog" hub bearings already have play and need to be replaced. Does anyone want to bet that these were really Moog? You can't compete with people who lie and cheat.
  2. I would not allow three radios. There can only be ONE and only ONE in my shop. Your situation is ridiculous and I blame it on management.
  3. Sounds like my month. This August was more than 30% less then last August. To top it off one of my techs had a collision on a test drive at 5:00 today and a customers's car may be totalled.
  4. Great numbers as far as I am concerned. Superior techs to do that.
  5. We have a 2000 F-150 short bed 4x4 with 109K.
  6. BEST is a good approach although exhaust is not such a big deal anymore down below the rust belt.
  7. I can usually beat tire rack pricing but a lot of people don't call until after they have ordered.
  8. Glad you went. Glad you like it. I can say that they are both the genuine article. I am definitely looking forward to meeting you. By the way I really like the changes and improvements you have made to your website. It looks really good. Is business improving for you and did you raise your prices any?
  9. I am an installer and shipping point for Tire Rack and have been for 15 years. I charge a good price to install tires and I often pickup alignments, brakes, etc. Tire Rack customers tend to be higher end customers and I am getting them to visit my shop without spending one penny in advertising. Obviously, didn't sell the tires and there is no warranty, no free rotation, etc.
  10. Al is correct. This guy could be a scoundrel or he could be a really good guy, soft touch trying to help someone out. Without the facts and first hand knowledge all of us are just speculating. Either way he will now face the courts. Whatever, if this guy is convicted it will not be good case law for any of us.
  11. Try it again I redid the link. I just found out that Janna and Craig will be on Channel 57 Atlanta Live in October. They are looking for something to pull a 5,000 lb trailer (church gear). Not over the road but back and forth on Sundays. Needs to be something cheap. If anyone knows of something in the area let me know. Needs to be cheap. O I said that!

  13. Cut and paste this post as a response????? The people I get bad reviews from are either ignorant or do not want to spend the money to do a proper repair.
  14. What happened to the venture with the tech who already had some business.
  15. We had much he same thing this month on a Subaru. Bent all the valves. First time I ever Rember this happening. I do not know what happened. All we found was the belt shredded. O well. It has been a lot of fun lately and business has been soft.
  16. We have used the universal coolant for a number of years with absolutely NO PROBLEMS. I personally will not put DEXCOL back into any vehicle unless an owner insisted. I have removed it from any vehicle I have owned. As far as oils go we stock full synthetics in just about every weight except 10W30 and 10W40. If a vehicle calls for full synthetic that is all we will use unless we have the owner instruct us otherwise and then we put a disclaimer on the ticket.
  17. Last October I attended a meeting sponsored by Jasper Engines and Transmissions with a presentation by the CEO for independent shop owners. Upon registering Jasper asked for the labor rate at every shop and reported the results at the meeting. We are here in the hinder lands in the mostly rural Midwest/southeast. The shops represented were from Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky. The reported labor rates ranged from $48-$109 per hour. The average was $78. If one had excluded the shops from the smaller towns I am sure the average would have been in the low to mid $80's. Our current labor rate is $90.00.
  18. I had to drive straight back after church. It was too chaotic to stick around. I will definitely find your shop one of these days when I am down that way. I am looking forward to meeting you. Figured your son was into football because his dad's picture on facebook looked like he was a football player.
  19. It was good. I hope to meet you one of these days. Is your son a football player? Here is a picture from the launch:
  20. I think some people just believe it is wrong to pay one penny for a tow or one for diagnostics. They then proceed to throw away hundreds tearing up stuff and buying unneeded parts.
  21. I fired a very good tech last week because he was bringing all his problems to work and was making him useless.
  22. I am jumping in the car and headed to Georgia to be with my daughter for the launch of Abiding Church. This has taken a whole year of hard work, prayer, and organization to get to this point.
