  1. Nice! Thanks for sharing. Just one question? Who has time to bake cookies?
  2. I just redid my counter. Covered the exposed side with diamond plate sheet aluminum and installed a new counter top in black. Spiffy looking. Won't get dirty. Easy to clean. The diamond plate cost me $300 and the top was $700. You could take any type of counter and cover with the diamond plate. A sheet metal shop will cut the stuff to fit and just install with sheet metal screws. You could actually install it over a 2x4 frame with nothing underneath since it is rigid enough.
  3. Probably a situation where technology has outstripped the regulations.
  4. Would I? Yes! But not for golf but to pursue other business and spiritual interests.
  5. Typically how do you pruce a steel brake line repair. How do you estimate the time? We often will just give a range?

  8. Our franchisor for Car-x was acquired by Monro. Monro has made more than 30 acquisitions totaling more than 500 stores and producing revenue of 650 million since 2000. I have oftened wondered why Wal-Mart really didnt do something with their TLE's. If they did they could possible dominate the market. The biggest issue I think we all face is that future advertising is going to be all internet and digital. The business that can figure that out will be successful.
  9. Hang in there. You area survivor and a winner.

  14. We had a transmission go out on a test drive once. Fortunately the customer was understanding. We would up buying it, fixing it up and driving it a few years.
  15. Only someone who has no idea how much can go wrong and what tools can sometimes be need even on simple jobs would come up with that idea.
  16. No good deed goes unpunished.
  17. I enrolled my son at the community college in two classes: biology and English. I told him it was a trial and that if he didn't like it o.k. He failed both classes. However, he went on to do a plumbing apprentiship and today is a very successful plumber who is skilled in almost anytime of construction. When dad needs anything done I can now call the boy.
  18. Sometimes the risk outweighs the reward. We passed on a Cadilac Northstar water pump yesterday. Could we do it? Yes! Do we want to do it? No! What are the chances it already has a blown headgasket? In the end nobody is happy. I would rather that be someone elses headache.
  19. Free flat repair, free diagnosis, free air, free inspection, etc. Guess who pays for all of this.
  20. I had two different master techs who just tested and tested and tested and never reached a conclusion. You would loose money with either one of these guys.
  21. The only debt we have is on the property but it is prime retail commercial space that is worth more than $500k than what is still owed in it. But it wasn't that way when we were struggling.
  22. Gonzo, great story. Several years ago my business partner and I got a rental car from National Rental Car with unlimited mileage. It went from Indiana to Tulsa, to Chicago to Rochester New York, back to Indiana, on to Central Florida and back in a week. We racked up over 6,000 miles in one week. LOL.
  23. You can't fix stupid. Sounds like he saved a lot of money!
  24. One of the problmes with the lead sites is consumers are diagnosing their own cars from a code read at AZ, or from something they read on the internet, or from something "Sum Guy" said and a high percentage of the time they are not even close about what us needed.
