  1. Those snow tires helped a lot didn't they!
  2. Simon I have seen repairs like that. Most of the rusted brake line repairs we do run between $150 and $200. There are plenty of these shade tree guys that will gouge and take advantage when they can.
  3. You would always be welcome.
  4. Jay, I am not in the Triangle or even in NC but if I am ever near you I will be sure to hunt you up. I have really enjoyed your contributions on the forum and wish you the best success. My prediction is great things for you. Just don't burn yourself out.
  5. Naw. That can't be Gonzo. Gonzo is much younger than that! 😁
  6. The answer is BOTH? I would not consider a third location unless I have all my procedures in place including the back office and have a strong manager for the location available.
  7. Gonzo, I have one of those cars right now. It is a 2006 Toyota Tundra. Came in for oil change and brake pullsation. First the drivers window would not roll up. Never did that before. Keep it ovenight and a tap on the door and it started working. Problem fixed right! Wrong. Owner picked it up and brought it back said it was running bad and wanting to die. Never did that before. Had check engine light on and a code for a Mass Air Flow Sensor. Installed a Cardone reman sensor with no change. Waiting on a new MAF sensor just in case it is a junk Cardone reman. At this point in time my tech thinks it may be the ECM which would explain both the window and running issue but I want to double eliminate the MAF. Why does this stuff happen on our watch. The guy is a good customer and is driving my truck while we sort it out.
  8. Welcome to the forum and good luck. I will tell you that the is a dearth of qualified techs who want to work.
  9. A good tech is worth paying them well. They are very hard to find.
  10. I have a B.S. in Agricultural Economics!
  11. Jay, I like that. You are a hoot!.
  12. In college they taught me as follows B.S. = Bull Sxxxx, M.S. = More of the Same, PhD = Piled Higher and Deeper. What is your B.S. in?
  13. Two books for anyone considering higher education or on sending a son or daughter for higher education are "The Student Loan Scam" and "Worthless". I highly recommend reading these before proceeding.
  14. My machines are furnished at no charge and are chip reading.
  15. Books that I have read and enjoyed include 6 Tires and No Plan, Integrity Selling for the 21st Century, and You Can't Teach a Kid to Ride a Bicycle at a Seminar.
  16. Welcome! You need to find someone who understands diagnosis and electrical. They are out there but not easy to find.
  17. You pay $9.75+16 or effectively $25.75 for all billed hours?
  18. Do you use much 10W30 because we don't even stock any here.
  19. Chuckle......... A woman goes into the Bass Pro Shop to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. A Bass Pro Shop associate is standing there wearing dark sunglasses. She says: "Excuse me, Sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel ?" He says: "Ma'am, I'm completely blind but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes." She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says: "That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. test line. It's a good all-around combination and it's on sale this week for only $20.00." She says: "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it !" As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. "Oh, that sounds like a Master Card," he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was she who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around. The man rings up the sale and says: "That'll be $34.50 please." The woman is totally confused by this and asks: "Didn't you tell me the rod and reel was on sale for $20.00 ? How did you get $34.50 ?" He replies: "Yes, Ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00 and the Bear Repellent is $3.50."
  20. Buy another lift and raise your labor rate. Based on your location I would expect your fixed and labor costs to be higher than they are here in the Midwest. Our labor rate is $92 which is competitive in this market.
  21. Joe, you know what they say, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while."
  22. Just curious as to why you would make that move? Why not just market Subarus as your specialty but continue to work on other stuff? Most places except in the Rockies region a Subaru only shop would starve.
