I read a book in 2002 called 'The Rule of Three' by Jagdish Sheth and Rajendra Sisodia. Every time there was a consolidation, I thought of this book. Back then McDonald's, BK and Wendy s; General Mills, Kellogg's, Post. Today 13 years later, Staples wants Office Depot/Office Max. Does that leave but one brick and motor office supply national chain? Walgreens-Boots wants to buy Rite Aid. Will that leave them and CVS as national chains? Is a lot of this fueled by the future of e-commerce or pressure from Wall-Street.
