  1. people really dont want to protect their investment. This is something that we are going to start investigating as alaska started using brine this year. up until this point we never had a salt problem.
  2. We just stopped our alldata repair and are now using only motologic. The price is right and there is no limit on terminals.
  3. at what point do you just write off 48 dollars and call it quits.
  4. Thanks everyone for the comments, I guess I know how we are going to do it.
  5. It is going in to new construction and my slab isn't poured yet so and I am not paying for it and the builder doesn't care one way or another.
  6. All of the alignment lifts I have used before have always been mounted on the surface compared to flush mounted. If you were going to install a new lift today would you flush mount it or not? What are the pros and cons?
  7. Cross your fingers everyone, the Y lift is showing up tomorrow. rumor has it each ramp is 3000lbs so I have a forklift ready this time.
  8. So we are still trying to get it figured out how they are going to get it fixed. The worst part was they just showed up. I have access to a fork lift but it has not been run in 6months and was blocked in and dead. I had to call in the United States Army to get the job done and the truck unloaded. Being X military I still have a bunch of friends up here and they helped me on their lunch break. Keep paying those taxes fellas.
  9. Well that sucks, the three twin posts arrived today and were not in very good condition. the good news is our addition hasnt even been started on yet so we will have enough time to get it corrected. These are the battery boxes.
  10. Because we are in a truck environment up here and around the military people that love playing with and accessorizing their vehicles hopefully this will drum up some business. If not well then the wife has a cool new toy. Does anyone else use modified vehicles, race cars, other toys, to show off their company?
  11. I hate it when that happens, how many hours was book?
  12. I have one that says that "Your vehicle was serviced to day with pride by TECHNICIAN" this way the tech can put their name on the job. Personally I have some of these peoples cards that I give out to people who I want to remember me. http://www.mymetalbusinesscard.com/cgi-bin/webstore/shop.cgi?c=start.htm&t=main.index.htm&storeid=1
  13. Those ones are related to the call until they pick up ones. seriously call me one call after another till I pick up for 5 min.
  14. I have a pretty good one right now, she had no knowledge about cars before coming to work for me but has work ethic and is learning. I can see her getting a pretty good grip on things, the only problem is that she is a military wife and scheduled to move in 1.5 years.
  15. Engineer or friggen helicopter pilot. I was telling a guy about how his throttle body gasket was cracked on his turbo subaru ( I am normally really good about explaining things so a 5 year old would understand) and it was causing a poor running condition. He just looked at me and cocked his head to the side, then my transmission rebuilder came in with stoichiometric efficiency is compromised due to the infectiveness of his throttle body gasket and he goes oh I see.
  16. I am a nice guy like really nice guy, and with that I make a terrible service writer. I am always trying to give people a deal, or not charge diag, or hear how someone is broke and let them make payments and never get paid. The best thing I ever did for my business was get out from behind the computer. I still come out of the shop to interact with customers, talk to them, explain things and meet them but I stay away from that damn computer. Part of it is our reputation has grown and word of mouth has spread, but with my service writer taking over things we are seeing double the sales that we saw last year in this first quarter. What is the best thing that you have ever done, or not done for your business?
  17. I started in my own personal garage and bought stuff when I needed it. after about a year of nights and weekends I got a guy to help me at my personal garage (1800SQ feet with a lift) 6 months after that I moved my shop in to a 1000SQFT shop with a few more tools but still a full time job. During this time we have added an AC machine, a couple factory scan tools, alignment machine, and lots of other STUFF. 5 months ago I quit my full time job and do this for real now with a full time office lady. I found if you work with your wife all day every day you might just end up hating them. At this point we have signed a lease for an addition and financed a piece of land to build a building on in the future. We also financed the purchase of 4 new lifts for 38,000 just to build a reputation with the bank. My tip is start small, and work with what you have got and when you can add what you need. Do quality work at a quality price and take care of people like you are related to them.
  18. I have a CT4 coolant flush machine from BG products and I would buy it again or I would buy the one that vacuumed out the system and then lets the vacuum pull the coolant back in. but I really hate the sound of an air compressor. Like Swag Master said suck out the old but then I use the mighty vac pressure bleeder and zoom zoom its done and they are 300 bucks on amazon at the most.
  19. I am pretty sure most police officers are going to understand if there is an incident. other then that I think you might have to febreeze your customers as they come in.
  20. word of mouth works very well talk to the tool guys and other techs.
