I should clarify this also is somewhat applying to personal finance too. Im interested in the concept of staying small, building a house and a shop on one peice of property, and no real intention of significant growth or hiring multiple techs. I should also clarify that while I may require financing now - in the near future I'll have the ability to pay off the loan before the end of the term, due to the a joint venture which we currently have purchasers lined up for. When I started my business, I really had no clue about running a business. And knew far less than I should have about fixing cars. 10 years later the shop is doing well, somewhat profitable but it's paying for bad decisions that caused credit issues and a fairly significant amount of debt in the wrong places. For instance instead of getting a business loan (due to lack of collateral ) I financed all my tools from the tool dealers, got stuck in the buy from the tool truck rut and pay a small payment. I'm currently working on improving that posistion & all together we currently hold roughly $30,000 in debt and within the next two year my credit will be in great shape. My question(s) is this - what are the financing options with no collateral - is it smart to expand with a business loan (purchasing a piece of property, building etc) - and are their any tips or advice you might give someone looking to acquire significant financing for the first time? Most banks I've spoken to locally make it pretty clear that business financing is hard to attain right now - is this the norm or is it my inexperience causing their response? Woah right there...a one channel scope is not going to do the trick for most automotive work. Guess it's better than nothing. I would consider a training program for your technicians - maybe have your lead tech spend some time reviewing some of Paul danners material or some time in training classes? Would it be possible to get a image of his cam and crank waveform? Crosscounts are all well and good, but what's the voltage at during misfire? What testing was completed? What was initial compression and compression now? Which cylinder is misfiring? Fuel pressure, injector balance test, injector wiring verification? Ignition coil resistance, spark quality, ignition waveform? Wiring wiggle/dowel test? Cars do not misfire for no reason, there's data missing from the equation. I charge 49.95 for oil changes on gas 99.95 on most diesel and anything that requires special oils such as the vw's I run it under my matrix with a minimum 55% gpm. It's worth noting that some of those vw oils aren't much more than a standard oil - but I'm not one to take any chances! Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

We've got one at our other business. It was far more expensive at the time and really didn't draw any customers that were not on their way in already. That being said it's hard to measure it's return. In the automotive business though...no way. You will not see a return on that investment IMO! Maybe a small inside led board but you'd be better improving shop equipment or offering a new service. They will start having issues after a few years, and the become obsolete after 2 years just like tv's and computers after 5 years the software to run ours became a freeware and received no updates. New part failure and labor issues

My only comment on the brake pad issue is that some pads do have excessive epoxy on the end that needs to be cleaned. We bead blast every bracket that will come off and clean the others to bar metal if possible. Still get the ocassional pad you'll need to take a razor knife or grinder to knock the epoxy off for a clean fit. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk -

Any input on aftermarket vs oem converters. Just got bit for the first time. Wondering if anyone has any experiences. What's bad in this case is - although it was disclaimed that using aftermarket a code could reappear, I feel responsible. She asked what I would use - I said aftermarket. I've never had issues. Secondly the converter we sold her was in the $590 range OEM is over $1,000. Only lasted about 1,000 miles. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

I've been through similar situations but I'm very cautious in regards to used engines. Sounds like the supplier knows how to avoid issues on their end for sure! Unfortunately it sounds like this is a genuine comeback. Be it technician mistake or new part failure, unless there's something internal that caused it. I get very nervous in regards to large ticket used items. I've asked my insurance agent about similar situations and get the "deer in headlight look" and "no that's not covered". That would be amazing! If they would enforce it! We actually had a motel that had a couple fatalities including a child a while back due to carbon monoxide leaks from the pool heater. CARQUEST Advance Keeps TECH-NET

I've had serious troubles with billing and customer service with advance lately. Not to mention we changed 6 calipers on one vehicle to find one good one. I'm still using some of the e-services and really considering using tech net. No one I'm currently working with at advance has any clue about it. I could care less about the pot issue but I can comment on odors. Our bathroom isn't well ventilated - we use a wax warmer that uses a night light bulb and scented wax cubes. As far as smoke smell, sounds like you just need some basic ventilation. If you've got central heating and air, cut the fan on. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

I honestly don't know what injection system it uses. I'll look more into it, but seems like their mechanical injection. That being said I'd be considering a alda or Ada adjustment issue. It's also possible that someone adjusted fueling and may require a bit of tuning. Another issue could be valve timing or injection timing - but I'd start with low boost fuel controls first.
