  1. B all the way for me. I tried both other options. I need every hour possible, but don't want to hit someone over the head. A balance somewhere in between. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  2. How are you folks providing content for Facebook and your websites? I intend to do some myself and find others to share from etc. Any recomendations? Any input on the frequency of Facebook post? I'm planning to start with a "did you know" theme in regards to maintenance based issues related to modern diesels. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Hahahaha! That's awesome! They back it up with crediting your account for the monthly fee for any month that the tracked income is below $1250.00. No contract. Signed up today and I'll keep you all in the loop. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  4. That my boat. If i put much in it it'll sink lol. We're in a "debt reduction" mode right now so I'm hesitant to spend the money but I also am no interested in spending tons of time doing advertising work myself. I can do the motorev for $49.00 a month for the first two months then $250 a month, with a 5x guarantee. My concern is that it looks like it only uses your current customers and I'm worried how my current customers will receive the changes. Lastly my whole point of advertising is bringing in new customers, the only part of this I see that does that is the reviews. I'm very hesitant to spend the money just to draw my current customers in more frequently when I need some additional customers. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Has anyone used a marketing service like Alldata market or advances motorev? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  6. It does Joe, but doesn't have the ability to connect with customers the way Google Calender does. That's pretty much how we're working now, but I feel if we could get the scheduling down pat it would likely help control our billable hours a bit better. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  7. Only way to know for sure is get the scope hooked up and take a look. I like to do a cam and crank together and find a known good waveform to compare. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  8. It changed my life for sure! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Mitch Schneider's series is the best set I've ever found for this industry by far! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  10. I'm glad I'm not the only who feels that way! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  11. We have been using all data manage and Google calendar for scheduling but I would like to implement a protocol for the scheduling process to make it easier on everyone. Typically we schedule blocks of 1 hour diagnostics until lunch and repair the cars after lunch (if possible). But I find myself swaying and accepting any work that comes in the door, and spending all my time bouncing from job to job. I feel if I was on one job at a time it'd make life easier. Any suggestions? I plan to give this plan to my wife and a taser, if I vary from the schedule she gets to tase me? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  12. I've been using for a couple years and like it, but it does give us a ton of errors/lockups. I don't like the single tax rates (we have tire tax and must sell tires out of quickbooks). Online parts ordering is nice in some ways but is a real frustrating mess in others. We're going to try the new motoshop sms and may switch to their offerings. I hate to leave all data considering they just implemented vin lookup on repair and are supposedly adding it to manage! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  13. We're half down, every job over $200.00, every time lol. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  14. I've got a dealer that got the exact offer she's looking for from a new tech. Wrong oil filter hard start turned into 4k spent with the "tech" and I vote we're going to be somewhere around $1,900 just to get the truck safe enough to not burn to the ground. Injector washers jammed in, injectors loose. Hydrolocked cylinder. Missing wiring harness cover. Brittle harness, wires melted together. Vgt solenoid busted wires bare. Not to mention the 20+ stripped bolts, missing heat shields & oil leaks. Not sure what the other guy actually damaged and what was already done. Dealer won't even communicate with us on the job but we've "CYA" paper worked the whole job to death! Sometimes savings isn't saving. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  15. I'm just glad I'm not alone! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I dropped Jeff at bendpak a email asking him to stop by if he got a second. He's extremely knowledgeable on all lift not just his own and I'm sure I His knowledge would be welcomed here! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  17. In my opinion the clientele for this diesel side has changed drastically, the age has decreased and the drama has gone up. We still do a good bit of performance work, but for a select group. I feel I do much better financially and stress wise on the typical automotive repairs. Also much more rewarding for me personally. I liked diesel performance, but I don't think when it's all said and done that it's as financially lucrative or rewarding as a typical repair work. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  18. One of the few companies that the head man actually gets on forums and speaks with his customers. I can't say anything but great things about their lifts and customer support! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Labor rate is a touch low for my margins but I'm surrounded by 10+ $45.00 shops, so I'm very cautious to get ahead of myself and hurt business. I'm the only tech, and I have a helper so in some ways I'm my own worst enemy. Pull off a job to take a quick look at something or move to another job and have to start back. No come backs, maybe too much helping long term customers that should be billed. It's worth mentioning that after more research I found some accounting errors that closed the gap a good but but labor is still less than parts sales. We try to markup rusty jobs but virtually every vehicle here is a rust bucket. 3 years old and it's starting. As far as labor profits , it's close to 60%. I'm thinking of implementing a sliding scale for labor hour increase that moves with the year. Again, profits are nice right now. Just trying to balance it as much as possible. 20. Running my numbers for the year and saw an issue I'd like to improve on. As many of you know I'm trying to correct some labor revenue issues and things have gotten much better. Roughly 20k increase between last year to date and this year to date to be exact. But I'm still 20% shy on my labor revenues from being 50/50 parts/labor. I use my labor as a tool to discount so this may be part of the problem, but I also feel I'm not billing enough hours per job. We're using book and I'm considering marking all book hours up 20-30% instead of a rate increase (we intend to raise our rates but it will be in a larger time frame). Has anyone tried something like this? Or have any input? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  21. I've got a dealer who expects me to cut my labor rate in half. If I don't give in he still has us do the work. Just stand your ground, smile and say "we offer a 10% discount for members of the armed services and police officers (or something similar)" If they can't take that hint, I don't care to have them as customers. I let this indy dealer walk all over me this week but it'll come out in the wash lol Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  22. This leads me to another question. What effects will the right to repair changes make in the scan tool area? The manufacturers obviously want the scan tools with their capabilities to be expensive and stand alone systems, or we would have already seen more laptop/mobile based software and generic interfaces. Maybe we should start a thread on the right to repair issues. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  23. I understand that however in most cases users are speaking of diesel applications when inquiring on scan tools. My comment still rings true, no need for specific scan tools. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  24. I'm working on raising my rate after seeing some of your post. I'm definitely doing it, slowly working my way to $80.00 Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
  25. If you don't mind me asking, what's your aro and car count? Are you a specialty store? I see you do tires, with that few of people has the tire business effected your ability to get big work in and out? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
