  2. Hi all, I need some help; my husband I and run our automotive business. He does the work; I do the paperwork; we currently have 1 full time employee. We have been in business for about 5 years. We are suddenly super busy, even in January which has never happened. Our shop rate is $80.00 an hour. We have 1 lift but can fit a car in front of it; So even though they are working overtime; it seems as if we can never get ahead of the overhead; rent payroll insurance. My husband uses the billable rates from shop key; but when it comes to diagnosis time we feel we cannot bill them for the amount of time it takes sometimes. We have a 5 star rating on yelp and have generations of families coming to us now. Also, his employee cannot diagnose so its all him; He is good with brakes, oil; stuff that he can start and finish. So I'd like to get another lift, as other than raising our fees not sure of how else to make more money. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you Denise and Steve Thiel
  3. Hi all! Maybe you can help me out. I am an auto repair shop in central new jersey. We would like to become a NJ Inspection Center with these changes coming up, but from what I'm reading it seems to cost thousands of dollars for the equipment etc. How can a small business afford that? Thanks in advance for any insight.
  4. I have a 2009 jeep commander with codes p0032 p0038 p0052 p0058. Ground checks good. Missing power from pcm. Could it be a fuse? If so which one. Thanks any help would be appreciated.
  5. Hi All, My husband and I own a small auto repair shop. We have been in business for approx. 3 years and things are going well..ups and downs as everyone else... I have a question that I do not know how to handle.. What do you do with those people that think we are still just working out of our home and not for a living? There are people that just come in the back door and just keep chewing off my husbands ear until I show up out there..tell them I need him for something then they leave... He's nice and puts up with it..then I hear about it later how he can't get anything done.. We've tried putting employee entrance only signs up..but I guess no one feels like that pertains to them.. We are big on customer service so I don't want to completely shut these people out..but have some common courtesy... Any help would be appreciated..Thank you Denise
