  2. sorry about the caps a&C auto. maybe you can read my next post ill be sure to make sure its not in caps . Thanks auto save all very good advice we try and be as active in our community as possible but being an owner operator i do not get out as much as i would like, to to shake hand and kiss babies but will be working on that also. that is why i like your sales rep approach
  3. great approach makes sense, our current fleet accounts are roughly that size and it works well for us . I will be giving it a try
  4. hI EVERYONE HOPE ALL IS WELL. MY QUESTION IS WE WOULD LIKE TO ADD SOME NEW FLEET ACCOUNTS TO OUR LIST AND WE ARE INA PRETTY INDUSTRIAL AREA. AND HAVE QUITE A FEW ,BUT WITH THE ADDITION OF A NEW ALIGNMENT SYSTEM AND TECHS I WOULD LIKE TO BREAK INTO MORE GRAVY WORK. JUST LIKE HEARING YOUR APPROACHES OUT THERE, THANKS IN ADVANCE
  5. excellent points gentleman , and i agree with the price aspect i have never agreed with advertising price this is how i feel we attract the "wrong type of Customer". my thoughts were more toward first timers at the shop or the valued minded consumer, but i can see how it would affect our bottom line if we were not careful. what a tight line we walk > thanks for the insight
  6. Any one used or heard of this style of sales where you bundle say ten repairs or discounts together and sell them at a one time low price usually good for the year i think. WE have never used this type of marketing to our clients but always looking for new revenue streams and incentives for our customers , in theory i guess you take a hit off the bat , but the goal is it to create loyalty by keeping them coming in and hopefully selling some profitable work along the way . any feedback would be great if someone has used it, did it work ? waist of time? ect ect...
  7. all great suggestions and ideas , there are definitely benefits to both layouts .
  8. well i guess this is a good problem to have we have outgrown our current facility, we have been at this location goin on 20 years and we just need more room , and would like the asset of owning our own facility. currently we are running out of a 2300 square foot facility 3 bays. we are putting to gather a deal to purchase a property close by but we would have to bulid a shop on the site . the issues i have are they layout i know what i dont want. just want to bounce some ideas from guys that are in the trenches the architects cant relate to all the circumstances. that we encounter on a daily. what i a leaning on is not your "midas" style layout with six drive in bays i would like to use a more open layout about 4000 square feet . drive in from the side and have stalls on left and right and a drive threw door on the other side. my questions are if any of you are utilizing this type of setup any pros and cons to it . we hope the town will approve a footprint of 70x60 or 60X50 if the make us scale it back. my question are if any of your shops are similar to this do u have any issues with fitting larger vehicles ie trucks and vans, or work flow . also if you have recommendations of sources that may have designs that may be viewed or purchased . we are in the north east so winters are a factor right now we are entertaining block and or metal construction. thank you guys for taking the time to view this post , Happy Wrenching!
  9. Tony Is there a reason you picked it over the Bartec tool or others? Like This Quote MultiQuote i have never owned the bartech but have delt with other shops that have ,and they seemed to have issues with functionality and holes in the coverage. when i was demoed this unit the company which i purchased (myers tire ) it from sells both units and others and from what they seem to say is that bar tech is a great unit as well ,but the ateq was the choice of the leading tire shops . i did my research . great info on you tube if you want to see it in action.I it was also recommended to me by another disturber (rh scales) which also carriers multiple lines with the same recommendations . not to say that this is the best unit out. we have had it a couple of months now and seems to be working for us. i seemed to base my decision on the fact that this company seems to focus on tpms not just a add on like some the other manufactures.
  10. we just invested in the ateq vt55. thing does everything we need it to from ecu reprogram on Asians to Europeans . also now has capability to program aftermarket sensors like alligator sensit right off of the unit . it was a little more pricey than some of the competitors but tpms systems seem like its here to stay so for us it was a worthwhile investment , also all the updates are easy to download right from the pc to the unit.
  11. great sites guys ! here is ours its also a work in progress www.american-brake.com

  13. Hi I am having trouble viewing the site using google chrome. Just logged on using my phone and all is well.
  14. Just wanted to bounce a idea that i have been entertaining as of late . little about me and my current situation i am a 20 year veteran own and operate a general repair shop in a suburb of Boston. i am sure like most of you have done in the past rethinking my business strategy. with in 3 mile radius of my current location we have approx 7-9 pretty large ( meaning 4 plus bays tire and auto shops) not including myself and about 3-6 gas stations that are doing some sort of repair). but not one "import or foreign " specialist. now my question to you gentleman and women has anyone ever done a successful transition such as this ? i do have some extensive European back round and am more than comfortable with German auto lines as well Swedish. right now we do service a large amount of imports. just been looking at our industry as a whole and cant see being able to do "general repair" for all makes for ever but maybe i am wrong. i think there is def something to be said for focusing on a specific sector and funneling our time money and expertise into one area, it does make sense when looking at it from the outside. but obviously the grass is always greener i know . i do have have a friend that owns a import shop and does very well again different situation in the city and much older company ect ect. demographics do play a large part in a decision like this . where do u guys see our industry going as a whole? with tooling and software costs seem to be growing every year how long can the independents keep it going . thanks any and all imput greatly appreciated. hope you all have a great productive day....
